I feel very fortunate to help Lopez Lomong on setting up his site. Here is a man who has gone through some challenging times in his early life and has conquered through them. He has survived through a war in Sudan. Now, he is a US Olympic athlete who carried the flag during the opening ceremonies in Beijing, China. That is a serious accomplishment.
So, I want to help Lopez and spread the news that he has been spreading. Below are two links, TEAM DARFUR and SAVE DARFUR. Both are very informative sites of the tragedy going on in that region. Please take the time to visit them and spread it to others.
Also, check out Lopez’s blog, LopezLomong.org. Leave a comment for him as he will be updating it when he can. Lopez is ultimately a really nice guy and I’m sure he wouldn’t mind some kind words from people. So, leave a note and say hello to him! Maybe you’ll hear back from him personally.
TEAM DARFUR
www.teamdarfur.org
Team Darfur is an international coalition of athletes committed to raising awareness about and bringing an end to the crisis in Darfur, Sudan. A campaign leading up to the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, Team Darfur aims to educate the global public through the unique voice of elite athletes. Team Darfur brings together the world’s Olympic and professional athletes to put international pressure not only on Sudan, but also on those countries that support the policy of inaction in the face of this dire humanitarian crisis. We all must ask ourselves: where will we be while the people of Darfur suffer?
SAVE DARFUR
